There are various ways to get a plane working at maximum performance, most of which I cover on my Beginners and sharpening and fettling courses. The part which seems to give the most problems appears to be the chip breaker. Here I describe how we deal with it.
It has been difficult to film some of the detail of this, but I think it gives you the idea of what is required.
