Happy new year
I seem to have been very busy since moving to the Cornmill workshop, so I was pleased to take a longer break than usual over Christmas. However this did not stop me running a couple of free taster half day sessions between Christmas and new year, complete with mince pies! In the marquetry taster we made the inlaid plaque shown using sand shading techniques and in the woodwork taster we made the four trivet set shown. Both sessions were good introductions to the basics of the craft and a number of the students have signed up for further courses.
I also got news from students who had made Christmas presents on my courses. Elizabeth’s daughter was very pleased with her folding table that allowed her to work at her laptop sitting on the floor. In fact I’m not sure who was more pleased, Elizabeth at having made it or her daughter for having received it! Elizabeth made the table on my Tuesday afternoon classes. Simon, who came on some special tuition with me a couple of months ago, made a lovely maple and vavona burr jewellery box for his wife’s Christmas present, Simon reports that she is very pleased with it.
