2022824Regular readers of this blog will know that I have been looking for new premises in Ilkley. Well I am looking forward to moving to The Cornmill, Railway
Road, Ilkley at the end of this month.

Previously the shared situation at Blubberhouses has limited the number and range of courses I can offer. Being in my own workshop gives greater flexibility. So, as from September I will be offering these new courses:

Woodwork evening class. This will be a weekly evening class from 6.30 to 9.00 on Tuesday nights catering for all abilities. The number of students will be limited to six I already have a number of people booked on these classes so if you are interested get in quick! More information.

Afternoon class, the same as the evening class but on Tuesday afternoons 1.30 to 4.00. More information.

Special tuition. Previously my courses have been structured around a particular technique or the making of a set piece of furniture. This special tuition will be more free format where you define the structure. For more details please look at the course decription.

Of course I will continue to offer my regular courses. Check out the course menu for these.

I recently Googled on woodwork classes in the Ilkley area and found nothing. This is rather sad. At one time most schools offered woodwork evening classes, giving people the opportunity to develop their woodworking skills and achieve the satisfaction of making things in wood. That’s how I came to furniture making. The cuts in adult education make this a thing of the past. These woodwork and furniture making courses will go some way to fill this gap.

“Onwards and upwards”, as the chap on Gardeners Question Time likes to say!
